Tre Mitchell shoots down suggestion that he believes Louisville has the best fanbase

Former Kentucky player Tre Mitchell suddenly found his name being tossed around social media feeds this week.
Mitchell, who spent his final season of college eligibility with the Wildcats during the 2023-24 season, is the former teammate of an incoming Louisville Cardinal, Sananda Fru. On a recent appearance of the Field of 68 podcast, Fru was talking about his future college program and how great the fanbase is. While discussing the Louisville fans, he brought up Mitchell (his teammate during the 2024-25 season on the German-based club, Lowen Braunschweig) and how Mitchell said the Cardinals “have the best fans in the whole world, basically.”

Fru quickly clarified his comments — “‘best fans’ is a bit crazy, but he said they got a great fanbase, they’re gonna love me.” — but fans from both sides immediately pounced on the quote. Members of the Big Blue Nation made sure to point out that, during Mitchell’s season at Kentucky, the Wildcats went into the KFC Yum! Center and smacked Louisville (95-76) in an arena that was more blue than red and constantly filled with “Go Big Blue!” chants.
Mitchell wasn’t going to sit back and accept these allegations, either. He took to Instagram to deny Fru’s falsehoods: “Yall know that’s cap 🤣🤣🤣🤣 BBN L’s ⬇️” As a reminder, Mitchell dropped 18 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks in Kentucky’s easy road win over the Cards. We’re siding with the former ‘Cat on this one.
