Two UK Golfers Tee Off in US Women's Open

Thursday morning 156 players will tee off for the first day of the U.S. Women’s Open at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club (NC). Two of the 27 amateurs in the prestigious event are University of Kentucky golfers.
Jensen Castle will return to the U.S. Open as the U.S. Women’s Amateur champion. She’ll tee off at 8:32 am with Anna Nordqvist and reigning Open champion, Yuka Saso. In 2019 she finished runner-up to Saso at the PGA Girls’ Junior Championship. Castle missed the cut at last year’s U.S. Women’s Open, finishing 150th at 23-over par.

Castle will be joined by her caddy from last year’s U.S. Women’s Open. Laney Frye attempted three times before finally qualifying for this year’s event after winning a playoff Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh.
