Offensive tackle is again a true need for Kentucky in the high school recruiting market. The Cats are hosting two prospects this weekend but some other targets are also emerging. Offensive line coach Eric Wolford is making a quick move with Tyrell Simpson.

The Leland (N.C.) North Brunswick offensive tackle received a scholarship offer from UK on May 21. The Wildcats got an official visit scheduled just five days later.

Tyrell Simpson is the No. 807 overall recruit in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. The three-star prospect is a top-25 player in the Tar Heel State. The 6-foot-7 and 310-pound tackle has a big month ahead of him.

Rutgers is hosting the offensive lineman for an official visit this weekend. Virginia Tech is then scheduled to get Simpson on campus from June 6-8. Liberty also has an official visit date (June 13-15) locked in. Kentucky is currently slated to be the final stop.

Four-star tackle Jarvis Strickland remains Kentucky’s only commit in the 2026 high school cycle but that should be changing soon. The Wildcats are again in the market for multiple tackle prospects this cycle. Tyrell Simpson has emerged as a viable option at this priority position.
