UK assistant David Turner to receive Derrick Locke's award

by:Thomas Beisner01/25/11
Former Kentucky running back Derrick Locke is being awarded the inaugural Howard Schnellenberger Award, given to the top performer from the annual Kentucky-Louisville football game, today, but will not attend the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict that has him in Alabama preparing for the Senior Bowl.  In his place, Locke sent UK assistant David Turner, who just likes holding fancy things.  Locke posted 104 yards rushing and two touchdowns in UK's 26-14 victory. In a statement, Locke thanked UK fans and the Louisville Sports Commission for the award and noted that the award's "shiny luster, accented with wood trim and sparkling engraving plate makes it flexible to bring out the most in any home decor.  It can be used as a flower pot, urn or centerpiece for even the most elegant mantle.  Serious offers only.  No chump change.  LOL."
