The beginning of The Kentucky baseball season is right around the corner. Cut short by the coronavirus in 2020, the SEC and UK Athletics have plans in place to make sure there’s action on the diamond this spring at Kentucky Proud Park.

This season Kentucky’s new ballpark will be restricted to 20% capacity, a number that includes participants, essential, personnel, media and spectators. Seating will be distanced with reserved pods set aside for groups of 2, 3, and 4. Season tickets can be purchased for all weekend series and the Louisville game, with midweek games sold on a single-game basis. Season-ticket holders will receive an email today detailing exactly how they can request partial season tickets.

As for the health and safety protocols, here’s a lengthy list of some of the actions KPP is taking to keep spectators safe:

  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures throughout the stadium prior to and during all events
  • Mobile ticketing to reduce contact between staff and fans
  • Requiring face coverings for all fans at all times, with the exception of when fans are actively eating or drinking while sitting in their seats
  • Requiring fans to keep the proper physical distance
  • Providing signage in common areas to assist with physical distancing
  • Locating hand sanitization and washing stations throughout the stadium
  • Increasing physical spacing while using elevators by reducing capacity of each elevator
  • Providing concessions featuring cashless transactions
  • Discouraging the bringing of bags of any sort. Only small, clear bags will be admitted

You can find more information on tickets and health and safety protocols here. Kentucky is tentatively scheduled to open the season Feb. 19-21 at North Carolina, followed by the first home game against Miami University on Feb. 23.
