UK baseball drops first home game of season

by:David Jackson04/07/12
Our top-ranked Bat Cats saw their school-record 21-game home winning streak snapped today courtesy of a 9-3 defeat by the Ole Miss Rebels. Jerad Grundy took the loss for the ‘Cats. After throwing four innings of one-hit ball, things started to unravel for Grundy in the fifth when he gave up four hits including a grand slam. The Rebels would go on to score 8 runs in the fifth and added another in the 6th off a solo home run by Matt Snyder. The 'Cats tried to rally when freshman A.J. Reed  homered in the 8th inning to make it 9-3, but it was too little too late and the ‘Cats never got on the board again. The loss leaves UK at 29-3 on the season and 8-3 in the SEC. UK won the first game of the series 3-2 last night. The rubber match is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
