battleFighting through a stomach virus, Edison (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard 5-star 2016 shooting guard Tyus Battle visited Kentucky Tuesday and for his trouble, walked away with a scholarship offer from John Calipari. "Coach Cal sat us down, talked about how much he liked Tyus as a player, how much he admired how hard he worked and said he'd like to see him in a Kentucky uniform," Battle's father, Gary, told CatsPause.com. "Tyus is pretty happy about it. It's an exciting opportunity for him." Having already taken trips to Miami, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse, Rutgers, Villanova and most recently Louisville, Battle said the UK visit was "up there with the highest of the high." "It's Kentucky," Battle said. "The campus was beautiful, flowing, green grass and everything just like you would have imagined. The facilities were excellent. Coach Cal is a hall of fame level coach and the level of play is the best of the best in terms of talent." Battle (6-5, 190) is rated as the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2016 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Currently, Syracuse holds a comfortable lead (74 percent) in Battle's 247Sports Crystal Ball, but five of the last six picks have gone in favor of the Wildcats.
