UK Softball Takes on Marshall in Non-Conference Play

untitled (11) The Cats who are ranked 10th by ESPN.com/USA Softball and 8th in UFCA/USA Today Top 25, are traveling to West Virginia today to play a non-conference game against Marshall, who are unranked, at 4:00pm. Kentucky is now 18-3 and 2-1 in SEC play after winning their first South Eastern Conference series against Mississippi State over the weekend. Kelsey Nunley threw 14 scoreless innings over the weekend while also throwing her second no-hitter of the season. Nunley is now 7-1 on the season, striking out 53 in 67.2 innings, with a 2.00 ERA. Catcher Griffin Joiner leads the Cats offensively with three doubles, six homeruns and 14 RBI. Marshall is 6-14 on the season and 1-2 in C-USA play. The Cats met Marshall twice last season, defeating them both times with one-run wins. The Cats will then travel to Columbia, Missouri this weekend for conference play before taking on Indiana in a non-conference game next Tuesday. The following weekend (3-21-14) the Cats will open their second home tournament of the season against Kent State at 2:00pm, which will start a 15- game home stand at John Crop Stadium.
