It isn't a secret that over the past three years, John Calipari has developed a strong connection to Lebron James. King James has visited campus a number of times and is often seen working out in UK gear. He congratulates the Cats when they have success and he keeps in contact with many of the UK players. However some are not aware that how he developed this connection initially was through
Lebron's best high school friend, Brandon Weems, who has been on staff at UK. Since Calipari arrived in Lexington, Weems has been part of the UK staff, and has become one of the most well-liked people in Lexington. He is one of the nicest and most humble people around the program and he has been a valuable member of the Big Blue Nation. Weems is on the career path to becoming a coach and may soon leave Lexington for an Assistant's job in another location. But he has been extremely valuable to the UK program and helpful to the last three years of Calipari's tenure. Congrats to Brandon for his friend's victory and I am sure he has some great stories to tell of what Miami was like on Thursday night.
