UofL President James Ramsey is Not Happy with Matt Jones

by: Nick Roush02/18/16@RoushKSR
maxresdefault-2 Earlier this week, Matt slid in another newsworthy piece of information on Kentucky Sports Radio.  He reported that President Ramsey met privately with members of the board of trustees to discuss his future, one that includes stepping down as President of the university.  That report was later independently confirmed by Doug Profitt of WHAS-11. Ramsey's chief of staff, Kathleen Smith, vehemently denied both reports yesterday, telling WFPL they were "absolutely false."  That same sentiment was relayed by UofL Foundation board chair, Dr. Robert Hughes.
“Specifically, Dr. Ramsey had no meeting personally with anyone at his home, and had no meeting with anyone about him resigning,” Hughes said in an interview with WFPL.
Now Ramsey is denying the reports, and he's doing it by calling out KSR's fearless leader.  After testifying at a Kentucky House budget review subcommittee, Ramsey spoke with reporters.  After answering budget questions, he tried to dodge the question, "Was there a meeting at your house this weekend?"  Here's what happened according to Chris Williams of WHAS-11.
"Are you Matt Jones?  I never heard of Matt Jones...I don't know where they got that... that's kind of problem your industry has right now, lack of integrity."
Ramsey did admit that he has considered retiring, but, "I've got a job to do, I'm going to do it as long as I can." There's a reason why the UofL administration is putting forth their best efforts to deny these reports. Under public meeting laws, if there is a majority of trustees present (10 of the 19 board members) then the meeting must be open to the public.  To hold a secret meeting and to discuss public matters, to be frank, is against the law. President Ramsey's future will likely be discussed at the Board of Trustees next meeting, scheduled for March 1.
