Urban Pulls A Donovan
At a 5pm press conference, Florida Coach (and Simon Cowell body double) Urban Meyer confirmed what had been rumored earlier in the day that he will not resign, but rather take a “leave of absence”. My guess is he hit the practice field this morning and realized he had been taking crazy pills for the past 24 hours. Of course, this begs the question- Why can’t Florida coaches make up their minds?
This actually is a better plan for Florida, as Meyer was going to maintain an advisory role with the team. It would have been kind of like Russia with Prime Minister Vladmir Putin and President Medvedev. Any person that assumes the primary leadership role has to recognize that they’re aren’t really in control. No, this way Meyer can still oversee some matters of the team, but recruits know that he’s still in control. Meltdown has been averted in Gainesville.
