Vince Marrow: "It feels like Christmas" after latest Kentucky football recruiting win

College football’s second transfer portal window is only open for 15 days, but the Kentucky Wildcats found a way to make a big splash. This weekend Kentucky hosted USC offensive tackle Courtland Ford for an official visit and secured a commitment to fortify the Big Blue Wall.
The news broke late Saturday night. A few hours later Vince Marrow joined WLAP’s Sunday Morning Sports Talk and shared his excitement for the addition, albeit without talking in specifics.
“It was a pretty good weekend. Did it snow this weekend? Because it feels like Christmas,” said Kentucky associate head coach.
Although the move has not yet been made official by UK, it’s a big one. Ford is the third offensive lineman to transfer to Kentucky this offseason and is projected to play right tackle for the Cats. Marrow credited the support staff for laying the foundation before the big dogs closed.
“We had some other guys (visit) too, some really good players came in and visited. It’s really good. Recruiting, it don’t stop. I was one the road high school recruiting, then came back for official visits. I think our whole offensive staff did a really great job, even the GAs and support guys like Ty Williams, CJ Conrad and Drake Jackson,” Marrow said.
“A lot of those guys don’t get mentioned, it’s a big operation, a big operation. It’s starting to remind me of the NFL. They all have to come in, then you bring the closer in and we do what we gotta do to sell what we need to sell. But I can tell you this, I can’t say names, but the Big Blue Nation isn’t really hard to sell right now. Definitely the Big Blue Wall is not hard to sell. It had a little crack in it, but I can tell you right now, that joker is going to be back, solid.”

Other Positions Kentucky May Address in the Transfer Portal
With the addition of Ford, Kentucky now has brought in eight transfers this offseason. There is still room to add more players, but the Wildcats can be selective. There’s only one priority position remaining that could use some support from the portal.
“I think we need some depth at linebacker. Other than that, I like our receivers, I like our tight ends, our running backs are pretty good too. “Getting Ray Davis is really good with JuTahn (McClain) in there I like our D-line. Stew’s done a good job with the D-line and I’m telling you, I like our secondary. Frank Buffano and Coach Collins, we really got some good secondary players. I was happy to see some of our other guys find a new home, but we got a pretty good secondary.”
College football players have until April 30 to submit their name into the transfer portal and still be eligible for the 2023 season. Stay up to date with all the latest on who Kentucky is targeting by following along with KSR’s Transfer Tracker.
