Vince Marrow Throws Shade at the Kentucky Offense

The war of words has begun. On Friday morning, Vince Marrow spoke publicly for the first time since making the rivalry move. Knowing what we know about Vince, there was a 100 percent chance that he was going to take a jab at his former school during the interview.
During the roughly 20-minute interview on The Deener Show, he went to great lengths to speak about how difficult it was to make the move after establishing strong relationships over 12 years at Kentucky. However, he said this move was not all about finding a way out of Kentucky.
“It was more about working with Jeff (Brohm). I think Jeff is really, really going to do some good things at Louisville. It was more about working for a friend, moving on to something new,” Marrow said.
“I was telling people two years ago that this is where college football was going, and you really got to run it like an NFL front office. I think Jeff got out in front of this, and that tells you how good he is. It was more doing that (job), and it was more staying in the state of Kentucky. I really embraced this state. It is really like my second home. I had opportunities to go a lot of places, but when this situation rose up, I said, I can stay in the state, still do stuff in the state off the football field when you know certain situations happen. When we talked about it, it was just like, hey, let’s do this. Let’s stay in the state, and I’m happy. I’m blessed that God allowed me to do that.”
Marrow says Recruiting to Louisville’s Offense is Easy
Of course, Marrow is best known for his recruiting ability. Like at Kentucky, he will wear many hats at Louisville, but his primary job is roster management. He says the sales pitch for recruits is easy.
“Sometimes I haven’t had much to sell (at Kentucky) in certain years, and still brought in four-stars, but this is easy. This is going to be real easy to sell, and I think I can do it with the best,” he said.

Marrow added, “I’m selling a top 10 coach, who’s the best offensive mind, one of the best offensive minds in college football. I deal with the NFL a lot. There’s a lot of GMs that really admire Jeff. (It’s) selling that and selling the city.
“I gotta be honest, being in Lexington for 13 years, and that was a great. I loved Lexington, and it was kind of like, not that I was brainwashed, but you get locked in. When I took over and started to recruit in Louisville in the city, I started to see, ‘Wow, this place really got a lot, a lot going for it’… I just think Louisville is a city. It’s a great city to sell.”
Not only did he get in a little jab at the Kentucky offense, the city of Lexington took a stray. You can expect more of it from Vince Marrow in the future.
“Once that contract was signed, it’s war,” Marrow said. “We’re going to be in some battles and I know that.”
