Mark Pope has set himself up for a massive recruiting stretch…

With several transfer portal prospects already scheduled to visit Kentucky in the coming days, we’ve since learned of another player who will also make the trip to Lexington. According to Travis Branham of 247Sports, Wake Forest transfer forward Andrew Carr is “expected” to be at Kentucky this weekend.

During the 2023-24 season, Carr averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 32.5 minutes per outing for the Deamon Deacons. He started all 35 games played while shooting 52.6 percent overall, 37.1 percent from deep (2.8 attempts per contest), and 78.1 percent from the line.

Branham adds that Carr will travel to Kentucky coming off a visit to Texas Tech. After he leaves Lexington this Sunday, he’ll head straight to Villanova for another college visit. On3 ranks Carr as the 66th-best player to enter their name into the portal this offseason.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound big man entered his name into the transfer portal (while also testing the NBA Draft waters) on April 15. Carr spent his first two college seasons at Delaware before transferring to Wake Forest for the last two. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Carr was unranked out of West Chester East (PA) High School before committing to Delaware as a member of the 2020 recruiting class. He averaged 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds as a freshman in 15 games during the 2020-21 season before transitioning into a full-time starting role for the Blue Hens. Carr averaged 10 points and 5.1 rebounds in 28.4 minutes per outing in ’21-22 while starting all 34 games. Delaware even made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014.

From there, Carr transferred to Wake Forest during the 2022 offseason. He started all 33 games in ’22-23 while averaging 10.7 points and six rebounds in 31.5 minutes per contest. Carr also won an ACC Player of the Week award.

Carr’s numbers improved even more as a senior in ’23-24, although the team success didn’t follow. Wake Forest finished 21-14 (11-9 ACC) and was knocked out of the NIT in the second round. Regardless, there aren’t many guys in the portal with that size who can stretch the floor and score as efficiently as Carr.
