John Wall linked to several teams via trade or buyout

The 2022 offseason will be one of the biggest in John Wall’s career. So much of what he and the Houston Rockets decide on will determine when he can resume his NBA career. The market for him could also foretell how much of one he has left. With multiple ways to go about it on the table, several teams have reportedly emerged since the regular season ended.
Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer shared his thoughts in a recent article about Wall. He expects buyout talks will heat up if a trade is not found by the 2022 NBA Draft. If Wall is bought out, he names two teams as potential landing spots in the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat.
Both rosters could afford to swing for the fences on another point guard. The Clippers have Reggie Jackson running their offense but don’t have a clear backup. One could argue Wall could potentially be an upgrade if he returns to some form of his younger self. For the Heat, they acquired Kyle Lowry via trade last summer and signed him to a contract extension shortly after. While Lowry would presumably remain the starter, Wall could take control of the bench unit’s offense alongside Tyler Herro.
A trade is still on the table for teams who would want to potentially obtain Wall. He falls in the same boat as Russell Westbrook, though, as teams would have to pair a lot of contracts together to afford him or have significant cap space to absorb his $47 million option. The Lakers could be a possibility as Wall and Westbrook are continuously linked with one another. The two teams discussed a swap for the two back at February’s trade deadline.

Westbrook has been linked to the Charlotte Hornets, Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic since the season ended. Wall would also be options for those franchises too as his contract is similar in size.
It could come at a serious expense, but it appears there’s still interest for Wall around the league. It will all just depend on when and how he becomes available in the future.
