Are we about to get a Masked Devin Booker in Game 3?

During Tuesday night’s Game 2 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals, the nose of Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker met an untimely fate with the forehead of Clippers’ guard Patrick Beverley. The incident happened late in the third quarter with the Suns ahead 69-62, and it forced Booker to head to the locker room for the remainder of the period while he was getting stitched up.

Blood was gushing from both players immediately after it happened, but they toughed it out to stay in the game down the stretch.

Booker would ultimately return to start the fourth quarter with a clearly busted-up nose, but that didn’t prevent him from scoring nine fourth-quarter points on a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe. The end of the game came down to the final second, with the Suns executing a genius baseline out-of-bounds play that resulted in Jae Crowder tossing a beautiful alley-oop to Deandre Ayton for a dunk. The score put the Suns up by one point, 104-103, with just 0.7 seconds left on the clock. Paul George failed to get off the final shot for the Clippers at the buzzer as the Suns go up 2-0 in the series as a result.

As for Booker’s nose, it might be spending most of today with a bag of frozen peas.

Not good! I’m sure barking at DeMarcus Cousins at the conclusion of the game and then having Boogie two-hand shove him wasn’t what the Suns’ front office wanted to see, either.

If there is a plus-side to all this, it’s that this could provide fans with an opportunity to see masked-up Devin Booker, as fans have witnessed over the years from fellow NBA stars such as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James after they suffered related injuries. Suns fans were quick to point out that this situation is eerily similar to when Steve Nash had his nose destroyed in the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

Game 3 between the Suns and Clippers in the WCF is slated for Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. EST on ESPN. We’ll see what shape Booker is in by then.
