WATCH: Highlights from Tre Mitchell's first Kentucky practice

The newest addition to the 2023 Wildcat roster, West Virginia transfer, Tre Mitchell, participated in his first practice for his new team this weekend. Kentucky posted a quick highlight feel from the milestone gym session to give an insider’s look at what goes on behind Craft Center doors.
What stands out first and foremost in this 30-second clip is Mitchell’s versatility. He catches two pick-and-roll lob dunks from both Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard, makes a nice touch pass inside to Jordan Burks for another dunk, and drains a 3-pointer from the top of the key.
It is weird watching them play with that FIBA ball, but it is smart to be practicing with the same basketball they will be using in Canada next week for the GLOBL Jam.
Mitchell will wear #4 on his jersey, presumably because Adou Theiro and Ugonna Onyneso already occupy his first two choices of #3 and #33. His name is Tre after all.

Mitchell joins the team after departing West Virginia following Bob Huggins’ abrupt resignation. Calipari called it fate that he will get the opportunity to coach Mitchell, with whom he has a slew of connections.
At 6’9″ and 225 pounds, Mitchell will give Kentucky a playmaking presence in the frontcourt but also provide some much experience to an otherwise very young team.
