WATCH: John Calipari previews Kentucky's Champions Classic game vs. Kansas
Before Kentucky‘s team flight to Chicago for the Champions Classic, John Calipari held a pregame press conference in Lexington to preview Tuesday night’s game against No. 1 Kansas. Calipari spent nearly 20 minutes taking questions about his Wildcats, their health, the matchup with the Jayhawks, and lots more. Tyrese Maxey‘s 50-burger even came up in the conversation.
Looking forward to Kansas, Calipari said of the opportunity, “Let’s see how good we are. You’re playing the No. 1 team in the country. Well-coached, a Hall of Fame coach. Like, you’re not gonna walk in and say, ‘we’re going to trick them.’ No. There’s not going to be any tricking. They’re not going to trick us. We’re not going to trick them. Here’s how they play. Here’s how we play. Who’s making shots? Who’s executing the best?”
On film, Calipari thought Kansas “executed pretty well” with a new roster. He had things to say about Hunter Dickinson and Kentucky’s pursuit of Dickinson out of the transfer portal, too.
Calipari also made his first public comments about Somto Cyril and Boogie Fland since they officially signed with UK.
