WATCH: John Calipari's Media Day Press Conference
Days before Kentucky Basketball’s first exhibition game, John Calipari and his players opened the doors to the Joe Craft Center for Kentucky Basketball Media Day 2022. The afternoon began on the team’s practice floor with each player on the team spaced out for preseason interviews. Then when the timer sounded on player conversations, the crowd of reporters, journalists, TV personalities, and bloggers moved to the front of the media room’s main stage where Calipari took questions for a little over 25 minutes.
On the list of topics, Calipari began with his perspective on the viral photo of the coal miner at Kentucky’s Blue-White game and why he felt compelled to reach out to the family. From there, the next question from the audience was about what went wrong in the loss to Saint Peter’s last season, which drew an eye-rolled reaction from Calipari, followed by talk of individuals players, pick-and-roll defense, Bahamas advantages, preseason points of emphasis, and lots more.
