The 2023 college football season continues to get closer. On Tuesday, the Kentucky offense met with the media for the final time before wrapping up spring practice next week.

Offensive coordinator Liam Coen, offensive line coach Zach Yenser, Kaiya Sheron, and Destin Wade all met with reporters on Tuesday morning inside the Joe Craft Football Training Facility. Saturday’s performance in the open scrimmage was a popular topic as the offensive line rebuild has everyone’s attention.

Despite some inefficient results, Coen felt the offensive line did some good things on Saturday. Yenser believes things are beginning to come together for the Big Blue Wall in their rebuild.

“I think we’re getting a lot more confidence,” Yenser said. “Just with me being here for the second year and a lot of the guys we have back. A lot of stuff really hasn’t changed with Liam coming back in here. The verbiage a little bit but just the mentality. I think Liam is a phenomenal job of relating to the guys and just his vision for the offense of wanting us to be as physical as we can upfront. It’s almost like Liam didn’t leave. Which is nice. Me and Liam are on the same page with our vision for the offense and it’s gone really smooth. Those guys in our room, I think they feel that confidence playing a little bit more.”

“We gotta use last year to fuel the fire. It wasn’t up to standard, it wasn’t what this university and this program that they’ve built it on. And we know that. We gotta get back to it.”

An important transfer portal window in May awaits as Kentucky will look to get healthy over the summer before the real grind begins in August.
