WATCH: Mark Pope recaps embarrassing exhibition loss to Georgetown

Kentucky ate a big fat slice of humble pie just days removed from wiping the floor with No. 1 Purdue. The Wildcats turned a double-digit win against the nation’s best into a double-digit loss against a team picked to finish sixth in the Big East. Georgetown played extremely well and deserved to walk out of Rupp Arena with a win.
For Mark Pope, that’s unacceptable.
“We’re massively disappointed with ever losing on this floor. That’s brutal for us right now. It’s not going to sit well with our guys, and it’s certainly not sitting well with me. This is an unbelievable opportunity for us to learn so much, it’s both of those things. It’s never going to be an okay outcome for us. … We don’t do this here.”
The team shot poorly and couldn’t defend a lick — and don’t even get me started on the free throws. It was an all-systems failure to wrap up the exhibition schedule, and both the coach and players know it.
