WATCH: Mark Stoops Recaps Kentucky's First Fall Camp Scrimmage

Three weeks from today, Kentucky will kick off the 2025 football season against Toledo at Kroger Field. Today, the venue served as the host for the first scrimmage of Fall Camp. Following the 11-on-11 scrimmage, Mark Stoops shared what he saw with the media.
“I’m very pleased with the progress we’ve made this week,” said the Kentucky head coach.
It took some time to get the engines revving, but “we really picked it up, became a sharper football team, not as many mistakes. It was good to get out, put the ball down, and get a bunch of reps out there with a good, physical day today. We got a lot of situational work done today, which is really good, just organically through the scrimmage.”
Typically, Stoops simulates certain situations for his team during various practice periods. In the natural progression of today’s scrimmage, Kentucky had to execute in short-yardage situations near the sticks and the goal line. They also successfully navigated a two-minute by scoring some points to cap off the scrimmage.
“There’s definite improvement, and we all know that’s what we need to do,” he added.
Most importantly, Kentucky is leaving this scrimmage with a clean bill of health. A few players got “dinged up, but hopefully nothing serious.”
