WATCH: UK Sports Network sits down for 1-on-1 interview with Lee Anne Pope

As Mark Pope is about to enter his second season as the head coach of Kentucky men’s basketball, the Big Blue Nation has gotten to know him quite well since his packed Rupp Arena press conference last April. Pope is a brilliant mind with a down-to-earth personality who loves his Wildcats more than anything.
So far, he’s proven to be the perfect fit for the job.
But we’re still in the process of getting to know his better half. We learned a little bit more this week as the UK Sports Network team dropped a 28-minute sit-down interview with Mark’s wife of 26 years, Lee Anne Pope. Michelle Knezovic recently caught up with Lee Anne to talk about her husband and their four daughters, how she’s adapted to her new life in Kentucky, getting to know the players and their families, her desire to help people battling cancer, and so much more.

I particularly enjoyed Lee Anne, a coach’s daughter herself, talking about growing up around her basketball-obsessed father, Lynn Archibald, and how much her mother loved to support him. Referees even knew who Lee Anne’s mom was — that’s how into the games she was. That trait went down the family tree and stuck with Lee Anne.
To hear everything she had to say, dive into the video below. It’s a must-watch for the BBN, especially with her ending the video by saying she just wants to see Kentucky win. Mark even resized his 1996 national championship ring for her so she could manifest banner number nine. Awesome stuff.
