Boys and girls, I come bearing good news regarding your upcoming Valentine’s Day celebration plans.

By now, I’m sure you know Kentucky will be traveling to Gainesville to take on the defending national champion Florida Gators on Saturday, February 14. I’m also sure it crossed your mind that an uncomfortable conversation was on the horizon with your significant other about a romantic dinner on Friday the 13th, perhaps, or maybe a festive lunch earlier in the day? I’ve heard the atmosphere at Jeff Ruby’s is much better on the Lord’s day. How about a reservation on Sunday the 15th?

Have no fear, friends. You’ll be able to watch the Cats beat up on the Gators at the O’Dome, then proceed with your Valentine’s Day evening plans as normally scheduled. That’s because tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET in Gainesville, live on ABC.

Those details were finalized on Wednesday.

There’s a good chance it’s a battle of top-10 teams and legitimate competitors for the SEC crown, Todd Golden looking to defend the program’s title with a retooled roster led by the likes of Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland and Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee while returning frontcourt standouts Alex Condon, Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu. As for Mark Pope, he’s looking to bring banner No. 9 home to Lexington with one of the deepest rosters in the sport, headlined by All-SEC guard Otega Oweh’s return with Arizona State’s Jayden Quaintance and Pittsburgh’s Jaland Lowe the big-name portal additions.

It doesn’t get much more romantic than that. We’ll see you on the day of love down in Gainesville with Kentucky looking to hand out a heartbreak.

And then the Wildcats will look to do it again in the regular season finale back home at Rupp Arena on Saturday, March 7. Isn’t this sport the best?
