What do you think of the new Kentucky Wildcat mascot?

There’s a new Wildcat in town and he’s undefeated, looking for a few more victims to add to his hit list this fall.
Sorry, that was a bit over-dramatic. Allow me to start over.
Kentucky has a new mascot and this Wildcat is ready to rumble.
There we go. Still not great, but much better.
A new Wildcat mascot isn’t the kind of news you need to stop the press for, but it’s certainly noteworthy because this one looks a little different. Tyler Thompson first noticed a change in the mascot while scouring through Mont Dawson’s photos from the win at Ole Miss. The mascot’s head is different, particularly its eyes. It seems subtle at first, but the change is clear when you see photos of the two side-by-side.

The University of Kentucky upgraded the Wildcat mascot suit for the Ohio game. The old suit was used for years and was due for a replacement.
As you can see in the photos above, the old mascot head definitely had some wear and tear and was due for an upgrade. Even though most of its features remain the same, particularly the white whiskers, this mascot head appears to have a more vertical composition and its eyes are narrower, more similar to a real-life cat.

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Now that you’ve seen the photos, what do you think? Are you a fan of the new mascot or is the old Wildcat the way to go? Personally, it may take a minute to adjust, but I’ll get used to it. Besides, this Wildcat is a winner. If changing up the mascot changed the course of the season, whatever it takes.
