Following Boogie Fland‘s commitment to the Kentucky Wildcats last month, head coach John Calipari now has two class of 2024 commits locked in for the 2024-25 season. Fland, a 6-foot-3 point guard, joins 6-foot-10 center Somto Cyril as future ‘Cats. On Monday, their individual On3 rankings were updated to reflect everything they’ve accomplished since the summer came to a close.

Both Fland and Cyril saw very minor drops in their ratings within this update. Fland dropped two spots from No. 17 to No. 15 — which knocked him down to a four-star prospect — while Cyril fell just one spot from No. 45 to No. 46, holding into his four-star status. As a result, their On3 Industry Rankings (which account for all four major recruiting services) also changed. Fland is now considered the nation’s No. 22 overall recruit while Cyril sits at No. 51 overall.

This was the eighth update for this cycle and the first since August. Kentucky’s two-man class ranks 6th overall in the country. There are only a couple more updates left before these recruits head off to the next level. You can view the entirety of the updated class of 2024 rankings here.

Of course, Fland and Cyril aren’t the only notable high school seniors relevant to the Big Blue Nation. There are still a handful of uncommitted recruits on the market that Calipari has his eyes on. Check out where they landed in the latest rankings update.

No. 4 (+2) | Jayden Quaintance (C) 6-10, 225 | Word of God Christian Academy (Cleveland, OH)

  • Jayden Quaintance is arguably the most important recruit left on Kentucky’s Big Board. The versatile big man is coming off a recent official visit to UK and dropped a top four on Monday that included the ‘Cats, Florida, Ohio State, and Missouri. Since Quaintance is only 16 years old, he would have to spend at least two seasons at the post-high school level before making the NBA leap. The G League is no longer being considered, but reports indicate that Quiantance could spend one season in college before then heading to the G League. After four-star center Patrick Ngongba committed to Duke last week, Quaintance became the center of attention for the UK staff.

No. 5 (-1) | VJ Edgecombe (SG) 6-4, 180 | Long Island Lutheran (Nassau, NY)

  • Despite VJ Edgecombe taking an official visit to Kentucky the same weekend as Quaintance, the momentum has not publicly shifted toward the Wildcats. On3’s Jamie Shaw reported on Monday morning that he expects this recruitment to come down to St. John’s and Duke, the two schools that will receive his final visits. The G League continues to poke around as well, but it would appear that Kentucky is (for the time being) on the outside looking in.

No. 16 (-3) | Karter Knox (SF) 6-6, 210 | Overtime Elite (Riverview, FL)

  • Karter Knox, the younger brother of former Kentucky star Kevin Knox, has long been thought to be a heavy Kentucky lean. With a final four list of Kentucky, Louisville, South Florida, and the G-League Ignite, that remains the case. That being said, a decision could still be a while away, as Shaw also reported that Knox does not intend to sign during the Early Signing Period, which begins this week.

No. 24 (+13) | Billy Richmond (SF) 6-6, 200 | Camden (Memphis, TN)

  • Billy Richmond, who rose 13 spots in the latest rankings update, is also considered a Kentucky lean. He’s down to a group of finalists including the ‘Cats, Alabama, LSU, and Memphis. Richmond has taken official visits to all four, with Kentucky and Memphis considered the frontrunners. No commitment date has been set, but Richmond is Kentucky’s to lose at this stage.

No. 120 (-7) | Travis Perry (PG) 6-2, 170 | Lyon County (Eddyville, KY)

  • A homegrown talent, Travis Perry announced his top five earlier Monday afternoon, which included Alabama, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Western Kentucky. He’s visited all five schools, although his trips to UK and WKU were unofficials. A commitment date has been set for Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3:00 p.m. EST. Missouri and Cincinnati have been mentioned frequently as the teams to watch coming down the home stretch.

Kentucky has a solid chance to land three of the five recruits listed above. There is also the possibility of reclass candidate or two, most notably ’25 five-star guard Darryn Peterson. The Early Signing Period starts on Wednesday, November 8th, and will run through November 15th.
