When Mark Pope landed Malachi Moreno on Friday, he landed his first high school commit at Kentucky. Technically, Kenny Brooks has three high school commits during his brief stint in Lexington thus far thanks to Clara Silva, Tanah Becker (who committed under Kyra Elzy, but stuck through during the coaching change) and Lexi Blue.

However, he has yet to really get a commitment at Kentucky. As just mentioned, Becker committed when Brooks wasn’t at Kentucky yet, and Silva and Blue followed Brooks to Lexington, flipping their previous commitments to Virginia Tech.

So, following Mark Pope’s first high school commitment at Kentucky, the questions begs. Who is going to be the first high school commitment Brooks gets at Kentucky?

We only know a true potential commitment date for one 2025 target, and that is ZaKiyah Johnson. KSR learned that the five-star guard is expecting to make a commitment on November 23rd — her birthday.

However, Agot Makeer, Deniya Prawl, Kaelyn Caroll and Adelaide Jernigan have all started to narrow their list of schools with the ‘Cats being in contention for each of them. Jernigan’s list is down to just three, however. She’s considering NC State, Michigan and the ‘Cats.

There’s also in-state product Grace Mbugua, who trimmed her list of schools down to eight on August 6th. Her visit to Kentucky is the only one she has posted about on social media, so that may be a good sign for Brooks and Kentucky.

These are exciting times under Kenny Brooks, and it’ll only be a matter of time before that first 2025 commitment comes around.
