Who Wants to be Next? Recruits that could follow Justin Rogers' lead

Kentucky’s 2020 recruiting class was pretty empty until about a month ago. That all changed when a handful of elite prospects descended upon Lexington for a official visits. The following day, John Young was the first domino to fall. Now all four of the players pictured above are Kentucky commits.

The addition of Justin Rogers has given the Kentucky football coaches a new layer on top of a solid foundation. Talented players want to play with other talented players. Here are the most likely candidates to join the party:

Enzo Jennings

A four-star cornerback and Top 100 overall athlete, Rogers’ Oak Park High School teammate has been recruited by UK for just as long. Now a rising senior, most experts believe he’ll end up at Penn State. Jennings revealed yesterday his other two favorites are Notre Dame and UK. Only one of those schools was on the t-shirt he wore to yesterday’s announcement. He’s expected to be in Lexington for an official visit in June.

Richie Leonard

Committed to UK just a month ago, Leonard reopened his recruitment when Florida State put on the full court press. The three-star Cocoa, Florida interior offensive lineman has been on campus and developed relationships with many of the Cats’ current commits. Once the only soldier in the 2020 class, now that more and more are hopping on board, he’s taking notice. His first Tweet following Rogers’ announcement:

Leonard has already announced a second and final decision date, July 5. It’s his birthday present to his mother.

Deondre Buford

The only player who hasn’t committed from that infamous official visit weekend, Buford is a top 25 prospect and a four-star recruit according to 247 Sports. Another athlete from Detroit, Penn State recently got in the mix, while Auburn applies the most pressure on Kentucky.

Kalil Branham

The four-star wide receiver was committed to Michigan when he visited Lexington for the Blue/White Game. Shortly after sitting in the Kroger Field stands, the Columbus, Ohio native reopened his recruitment. A few weeks later, he officially visited UK. Branham has no plans for an upcoming announcement or even a list of finalists, however, the Cats are in a prime position at this point in the process.

“I like everything about UK, the facilities, dorms, the people, fans. I like everything,” he told KSR last week.

Vito Tisdale

The No. 1 player in the state of Kentucky is a top 200 prospect in America. The 6’1″ 200-pound Bowling Green safety is a future star that has spent quite a bit of time in Lexington this spring. Recruited early and often by Oklahoma, the most recent wave of predictions point Tisdale to UK.

North Hardin defensive tackle Octavious Oxendine and Louisville Male wide receiver Izayah Cummings are two other top UK targets, but neither appear to be on the verge of committing anytime soon. Tisdale, on the other hand, may start feeling froggy after seeing all of his friends recently pull the trigger.

Samuel Anaele

A four-star prospect from Carol City, Florida, he committed to nearby Miami in January of 2018. Throughout the tumultuous coaching change, Rivals’ No. 5 weakside defensive end remained committed to the Canes, but he’s still taking visits. Anaele is expected to officially visit UK this summer. On a previous trip to Lexington, he posed with Josh Allen right before the pass rusher was picked seventh overall in the NFL Draft. Yes, that’s a rising high school senior that’s just as large as Josh Allen.
