Will Levis gets a new number for the Tennessee Titans

Will Levis rose to stardom while wearing No. 7 at the University of Kentucky. He’s changing things up as a member of the Tennessee Titans.
This fall Will Levis will wear No. 8 in Nashville. His old number is currently worn by a player he’s competing against, Malik Willis, a third round selection in last year’s NFL Draft. Shortly after the Titans traded up to pick Levis in the second round, head coach Mike Vrabel said it’s up to the former Kentucky quarterback to move up the depth chart.
“Ryan (Tannehill) will be the starting quarterback on Monday,” Vrabel said. “Malik will be the backup. Will will be the third quarterback. And what I’ve told them is whatever happens after that will be up to the players. That’s what it’s always been here. That’s what we always want it to be.”
When Tannehill was asked about the decision to draft his potential replacement, the quarterback took a diplomatic approach.
“We’ve been down this road before, so it’s definitely a little bit of déjà vu,” Tannehill said. “But like I said … my job is to go out and try to win football games. As player, you could only control what you can control. That’s doing the best you can prepping yourself physical and mentally every day to win football games.”

Levis will get a chance to prove himself for the first time wearing No. 8 this weekend when the Titans host a rookie minicamp. Before he puts on the jersey, here’s a preview of what it will look like.
Titans Draw Interesting Matchup Abroad
As Will Levis slid down draft boards, one team was almost in the market for his services. The Ravens got a deal done to keep Lamar Jackson in Baltimore on the day of the NFL Draft. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports if an agreement was still not signed, they may have picked Levis at No. 22 overall.
“Absent a Lamar Jackson deal by the start of the draft, I believe, after asking around, that the Ravens would have considered quarterback Will Levis with the 22nd overall pick,” Fowler wrote for ESPN.
The Titans will play the Ravens across the pond on October 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The rest of the NFL schedule will be released tomorrow night at 8 pm EST. It may be a little early in the season, but there’s a scenario where the former Kentucky quarterback plays his way into a starting role by week 6.
