The big day is finally here. We’ve talked about Will Levis in the NFL Draft for months. There’s not much left to discuss. We tried our best by sharing best and worst case scenarios for the quarterback on 11 Personnel’s NFL Draft Preview Show. Now let’s cap it off with a list of wishes for what may transpire tonight in Kansas City.

Stay Far Away from Houston

Being the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft is a big deal. It would create short-term pop, without a ton of long-term potential. The Texans don’t exactly have a track record for protecting top-picks at the position and this rebuild will be massive. Not only are there glaring holes all over the roster, Houston has a new defensive-minded head coach and an unpredictable GM that may not last much longer. It’s not exactly a recipe for success. It’s best to just keep Levis away from the rebuilding franchise.

A Franchise with an Offensive Line

There were two big differences between Will Levis in 2021 and 2022 that were out of the quarterback’s control. He had a new play-caller and a new offensive line. The Joe Moore Award finalists in 2021 paved the way for Levis to breakout and lead Kentucky to a 10-win season. The following year he was sacked more than any other Power Five quarterback.

There are two primary weaknesses discussed during the pre-Draft process: he sometimes struggles to hit the layups and as Dan Orlovsky put it, he has operated amid chaos in the backfield but has a bad feel for pressure. An above average offensive line will fast track his progress on Sundays.

Patriots Perhaps?

Will Levis is a New Englander. He grew up cheering for the Patriots. During the NFL Combine the NFL Network found a picture of a young Levis wearing a Tom Brady jersey. Regardless of circumstances on the roster and lack of success since Brady’s departure, few things are cooler in sports than seeing someone grow up to play for their favorite team on Sundays.

As Few Banana Questions as Possible

We get it. He ate a banana with the peel on it. We’ve seen the video countless times. He’s been a good sport, talking about it on numerous occasions. We don’t need more questions about bananas and mayonnaise in coffee.

A Minnesota Miracle

The Minnesota Vikings are coached by one of Liam Coen’s former colleagues, Kevin O’Connell. Levis would have no trouble learning the Minnesota playbook. He also would not be thrown into the fire right away, as Kirk Cousins is playing out the final year of his contract. The Vikings have an established offensive line and are on their way to signing Justin Jefferson to a long-term deal.

Will Levis could go into a scenario with a familiar playbook, solid offensive line and the best receiver in the NFL without having to start right away. It doesn’t get much better than that. The only problem? Minnesota currently has the No. 23 pick. There’s scuttlebutt that they may move up, but the organization will have to give up a lot to get in range to select Levis.

A Short Green Room Wait

Nobody wants to be the last guy waiting to hear their name called in the Green Room. The Good News? Most insiders believe Will Levis will not fall past the Indianapolis Colts at No. 4 overall. He could become just the third Wildcat to become a top five pick since the NFL Draft went to seven rounds in 1994.

The action begins with boos for Roger Goodell in Kansas City at 8 pm EST.
