We’ve seen Will Levis air it out a few times this season. Kentucky’s quarterback has five passes of 50-plus yards in six games, although a few of those were thanks to major yards after the catch, like the 70-yard touchdown to Barion Brown vs. Northern Illinois. How far can Levis throw the ball if given the time he needs? We got an answer yesterday on Pro Football Focus’ “It’s Just Football.” In a conversation with Trevor Sikkema and Mike Renner, Levis claims he can throw a ball 80 yards.

“I think I’ve got a pretty strong arm. I think given the right conditions with an NFL ball, 75-80 yards for sure.”

Arm strength is one of the reasons Levis is considered a top draft prospect. When he first arrived on Kentucky’s campus in the summer of 2021, TikToks of him throwing the ball went viral, including one where he threw it 50 yards while on his knees. When asked, he told the “It’s Just Football” crew he’s never turned down a throw before because he thought he didn’t have the arm strength to complete it.

“No. I think I know what my limits are but I do think I have the ability to make any throw that any other quarterback on this planet can. I think I have that. That’s one of my special abilities that I think is going to help transcend me in this whole process and I’ve just got to keep making the most of what my physical capabilities are to make sure I can improve as a quarterback as much as possible.”

As the clip of Levis claiming he can throw the ball 80 yards made the rounds on Twitter, his teammates backed him up.

Levis reveals the worst play of his career

Levis is projected to go in the top ten of April’s draft, first by some experts. In six games this season, Levis is 114-164 (69.5%) for 1,635 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. When asked, he said he believes his decision-making and accuracy have improved the most since last season, which he attributed to playing for two pro-style offensive coordinators, Liam Coen and Rich Scangarello. However, Levis is the first to admit his mistakes. When asked about the finger he dislocated on a safety vs. Ole Miss, he said the injury wasn’t nearly as bad as it appeared on television, but the play where it happened? Woof.

“The play where it happened was probably the worst play that I’ve made in my college career. I led up the sack, I led up the safety, I couldn’t get the ball away. I dislocate my finger, which I don’t even notice until I pull my hand up and it’s also where I hurt my foot. I’ve been dealing with this foot now for the last couple of weeks because of that. Just not a good play overall but luckily all I had to do was run over to the sideline and have my trainer pop it back in and get it taped up and that was it.”

Thanks to the bye week, Levis is returning to full strength from all those injuries, which is a very good thing. The Cats could use a few 80-yard throws in Knoxville on Saturday. Check out the complete interview below.
