Kentucky will have another Australian punter on the football roster in 2025 — and it’s the same one from the last four years, coming off Max Duffy‘s three-year career to give the Wildcats eight straight seasons of Aussies and nine of the last 10 with Matt Panton also contributing in 2017. Wilson Berry is back, returning to Lexington after being previously left off the spring roster with rising senior Aidan Laros taking over as the primary punter in the last nine games of 2024.

Berry saw action in all 12 games, primarily as the holder on special teams, while also punting in five games with 12 total punts for 484 yards (40.3 yards per punt). Five of those punts were inside the 20-yard line against Southern Miss, South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio and Ole Miss.

Punting in all 13 games as a sophomore in 2023, he punted 56 times for 2,185 yards and an average of 39.7 yards per attempt, good for ninth in the SEC. 13 of those punts were inside the 20-yard line with nine of 50-plus yards. He started in the final four games of 2022 after Colin Goodfellow suffered a season-ending injury, totaling 19 punts for 782 yards and an average of 41.2 yards per punt. Six of those punts were inside the 20-yard line with two of 50-plus yards. His career started in 2021, punting four times for 148 yards (37.0 YPA) in two games, but missed the majority of the season with a back injury.

Now, the native of Maribyrnong, Australia is back in the blue and white for one last ride in Lexington.

He joins Laros — a fellow senior — as the lone punters on the roster in 2025. Expect another punting battle during fall camp, likely ending with Laros earning the starting job and Berry once again manning the primary holding job on special teams.

Laros had 32 punts for 1,453 yards and 11 downed inside the 20 with 10 boots of 50-plus yards for an average of 45.4 yards per punt. He also handled kickoffs for the Wildcats, totaling 3,064 yards and 32 touchbacks. The native of Capetown, South Africa originally transferred to Kentucky after two seasons at Charlotte and one at UT Martin.

Welcome back, Mr. Berry.
