World Cup Saturday

Exciting day today as the Americans take on the "Black Stars" of Ghana and look to avenge their 2006 World Cup lost.  Ghana is the only African team left in the competition, meaning its like us vs. a whole continent, the continent that the games are being held on no less.  Suffice it to say, the boys have their work cut out for them.  Since I know everyone is awake and ready for the match, let's get the Saturday morning links out of the way early this morning, starting with a little bit of soccer stuff for your pleasure. -5 Keys to this afternoon's match. -Just because I'm really big on world politics, check out this Newsweek article on the small, mysterious group of North Korea fans.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered who the heck they were. -50 worst sports style fails. All I can say is:  #49. -  The corvette was named the official state sports car of Kentucky yesterday.  Also up for consideration was KFC as the official state food and cornholing as the official state game.  I feel really good about the Kentucky legislature wasting time passing stuipid bills.  My state's legislature would never do such a thing. -Not satisfied with merely making history and orchestrating the single greatest night in the long history of Kentucky basketball, Cal now wants to get six of his guys drafted in the first round.  Slow your roll, coach.  When your number of first round draft selections starts approaching your team's number of overall titles, it's time to reevaluate our focus here.  -USA today talks to Patterson and the Rockets about their partnership. -Shout out to former Kentucky women's coach Debbie Yow, who yesterday became the first woman athletic director at NC State, a school where her sister Kay coached for 35 years before the hall of famer succumbed to cancer.  Love to see former Cats doing well.
