'You got to let her play through it.' Lexi Blue continues to earn minutes as she adjusts to collegiate level

Against Queens, freshman guard Lexi Blue scored six points in 21 minutes of action — the most time she has spent on the floor in a game in her brief Kentucky career.
Blue is currently averaging just 8.8 minutes per game, but that’s nothing against her necessarily. There’s just a group of talented upperclassmen in front of her. She is a young player with plenty of time to grow, and those 8.8 minutes are used to give her some very valuable in-game reps to help accelerate that growth.
“The best thing about freshmen, they become sophomores, but you got to give them time,” Kenny Brooks explained following the Queens game. “You got to let her play through it, and I thought she did a much better job today. She had a couple good days of practice leading up to it — the different mindset. So, she’s going to have to play through it. She really is, and we believe in her.”
Brooks believes that her production against the Royals could serve as a confidence-builder moving forward.

“I think it’s just a matter of her having a little bit of success,” Brooks explained. “She saw the ball go in the basket a couple times. I think she’s going to be able to build off of this. Obviously, with the short bench, we need as much help as we can get, and she’s the main character to help us do it.”
