Colton Nussmeier is making a name for himself in a hurry.

The 2027 quarterback out of Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High School is now the No. 3 quarterback nationally in the latest On3 Rankings, continuing his rise as one of the most coveted signal-callers in the country. The four-star prospect also landed at No. 11 in the state of Texas and No. 64 overall in the 2027 class.

Per the On3 Industry Ranking—a weighted average that factors in evaluations from all four major recruiting services—Nussmeier checks in as the No. 6 quarterback in the country, the No. 10 player in Texas, and the No. 52 prospect nationally.

At 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, Nussmeier is the younger brother of LSU starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, but the rising junior is carving his own path. While his recruitment has caught fire with a growing offer list that includes Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Michigan, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Wisconsin and more, Colton is in no rush to narrow things down.

“I’m taking it pretty slow, I haven’t really narrowed it down yet or anything,” he previously told The Bengal Tiger. “I want to make sure I find the right fit for me.”

LSU figures to be in the thick of it when it comes to Nussmeier’s recruitment. The Tigers have hosted him multiple times over the years, thanks in part to his brother’s time in Baton Rouge. That familiarity has helped him build a strong bond with LSU offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan.

“I have been to LSU a lot because of my brother so I have developed a pretty good relationship with Coach Sloan,” he said. “I do like LSU and I have been over there a lot and been around the program and like how they run things.”

The Louisiana connections only deepened this offseason when the brothers’ father, longtime college and NFL coach Doug Nussmeier, was hired as the New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator under first-year head coach Kellen Moore.

Still, Colton insists there are no frontrunners at this stage.

“I don’t think I have any top schools right now,” he said. “I’m taking things slow and making sure I don’t regret my decision and trying to find the best place for me.”

Currently, the only quarterbacks ranked ahead of Nussmeier for On3 are four-stars Kavian Bryant (Texas) and Jayce Johnson (Georgia).
