
<p>2023 Denton (Tex.) Guyer defensive back <strong><a href="https://www.on3.com/db/ryan-yaites-103927/">Ryan Yaites</a></strong> reaffirmed his commitment to <a href="https://www.on3.com/teams/lsu-tigers/">LSU</a> on Sunday, announcing he’s shut down his recruitment. The four-star prospect committed to the Tigers back in April.</p>



<p>“Thank you to all the coaches who have took their time to recruit me and get to know and my family but I’d like to publicly announce that my recruitment is closed,” <a href="https://twitter.com/ryan_yaites/status/1581755637712621569?s=20&t=YKTwURO5U90Q9w_bOY1l4w">Yaites said in the tweet</a>.</p>



<p>Yaites saw LSU’s class rise this summer into one of the nation’s best. He’s ready to get to campus to make an immediate impact with the rest of the class. Despite some push from programs like Ole Miss, Oklahoma and others, he’s ready to be a Tiger.</p>



<p>“This class is special. Everyone sees how we built it,” <a href="https://www.on3.com/teams/lsu-tigers/news/ryan-yaites-gravitates-toward-trust-lsu-staff/">Yaites told On3 in September</a>. “They say, ‘Brian Kelly can’t do this, Brian Kelly can’t recruit.’ This class… Top 5 class! That just goes to show that not only is it Brian Kelly recruiting, but it’s the LSU program in general. It’s something special. When we get up there, we’re going to make a big impact.” </p>



<h2 id="h-ryan-yaites-still-adjusting-to-safety">Ryan Yaites still adjusting to safety</h2>



<p>This season, Yaites made the move to safety from corner, and it’s paid off so far for him. This week, he and his team plays on ESPN2 Thursday night against Allen (Tex.) in a matchup that could very well determine the 6A Region I District 5 championship.</p>



<p>“So far, so good. I know people had questions with it being my first year playing at safety,” Yaites said earlier this fall. “Could he hit? I think I’ve really proved that. Bama guy, another D-I guy and both running backs, I made one of them fumble. Tackling, I think that’s a really good thing. Really, my cover skills, I definitely think they’ve improved because of <a href="https://twitter.com/flightskillz">Flight Skillz</a> and those guys. Playing in zone, getting coverage sacks because of that technique are two big things in my game.”</p>



<p><a href="https://www.on3.com/news/on3-consensus-ratings-rankings/">According to the On3 Consensus</a>, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Ryan Yaites ranks as the No. 257 overall prospect, No. 18 safety in the nation and No. 47 prospect in the Lone Star State. LSU will host Yaites for the Alabama game for an official visit. </p>
