LSU Football has hired alum Jeff Martin as Executive Director of Player Personnel, sources tell The Bengal Tiger staff.

Martin, who worked as a graduate student worker from 2014-2017, was named LSU’s Assistant Director of Player Personnel and Development in 2017. Martin worked as a player personnel assistant for two seasons prior to his appointment as a full-time staff member.

“Excited to be back home where I belong,” Martin told The Bengal Tiger staff. “I’m looking forward to giving everything I have to the program and the people in it.”

Martin previously worked with the staff in prospect identification, facilitating prospect visits, working with current student-athletes in development, and social media management.

Martin arrived at LSU as a student in 2002, where he worked as a student under head coach Nick Saban.

Martin worked under Saban, Les Miles, and Ed Orgeron, and now returns to work under head coach Brian Kelly.

The New Orleans native earned his bachelor of arts in mass communication in 2009 along with his bachelor of science in sports administration in 2015. Most recently, Martin graduated with his master of science in kinesiology.

Following his time at LSU, Martin was named Southern Cal’s director of scouting and player relations in March of 2021.

Martin also worked as a video technician assistant with NBA Entertainment in 2014.

Martin’s hire comes as part of LSU Senior Associate Athletic Director for Football Administration Austin Thomas’ “modernization” of the LSU Football program in the new era of college athletics as schools prioritize front office rolls with the welcoming of NIL and the Transfer Portal.

Martin’s hire comes after LSU hired away Ole Miss Coordinator of Recruiting Strategy Kelvin Bolden for an elevated role with the Tigers. Bolden will serve as LSU Football’s Assistant General Manager.
