Some good news came in on Wednesday morning, as LSU head coach Brian Kelly announced that starting center Braelin Moore was upgraded to “probable” for Saturday’s game against Florida. In the weekly teleconference, Kelly said that Moore practiced yesterday and the plan was for him to practice today.

Moore’s injury happened on the first play of the game as he was rolled up on and went down with an injured ankle, unable to get off the field on his own. He did not return to the game, and after the game, Kelly said they would have an MRI on Sunday.

On Monday, Kelly said Moore’s situation was better than it appeared and listed him as questionable.

“We did not get the sense he got a high ankle sprain or that he would need a tight rope procedure, and he was going to be out for four weeks,” Kelly said. “He’s going to be day-to-day and see how he feels. He felt better today, so we’re going to list him as questionable, and that could change to probable as we go through the week. We’ll see how that progresses.”

LSU has its “plan B” situation ready to go in case anything changes for Moore the rest of the week with DJ Chester.

“If he had to start, you know, we’re very comfortable with him. I thought he did a nice job because you got somebody on your nose, you know, right on top of you. You’re snapping the ball and shotgun situations, you know that’s difficult,” Kelly told the media on Monday. “To have a guy like him is invaluable, right? I mean, he didn’t take a ton of snaps the last couple of weeks at center. We had him out at left tackle. He’s played guard. He’s so valuable, and he went in there and did a great job.”

If Moore is good to go, then he needs to be the option when the LSU offense takes the field on Saturday. The way he solidified the offensive line in that week one game against Clemson played a significant role in the win for LSU. Moore has become a leader very quickly for this LSU team, while also taking responsibility for the success of his unit.
