LSU defeated Arkansas 6-5 on Wednesday night in a thrilling bottom of the ninth comeback, sending the Tigers back to the College World Series Finals this weekend.

After the game, ESPN’s Kyle Peterson talked with Scott Van Pelt about the Tigers’ win, the emotions, then previewed LSU’s matchup with Coastal Carolina in the championship series.

Two years after Tommy White’s magic to send LSU to the CWS title series, it’s Jared Jones with the magic moment on Wednesday night.

“They’re built a little bit different,” Peterson said. “When it continues to happen over and over again, then obviously you start to think you actually are built different. If you walk over to Rocco’s they’ll show you another reason they’re built different. It’s pretty crazy though. These are two of the best programs in college baseball over the last 15 years and they’ve had some classics and this is one of them. There are games you won’t forget for a variety of reasons and I will never forget this one… It was an incredible night. I feel for the Arkansas kids and it was LSU being LSU.”

LSU continues to deliver and seemingly always lives up to the moment in big games, rolling into the weekend series ready for title No. 8. It will be a challenge, though, as Coastal Carolina also swept through their side of the bracket and heads into this title series with a ridiculous win streak and confidence to try to take down one of the titans of the sport.

“They haven’t lost in two months and it grows your confidence when you show up and play the way they have played here,” Peterson said of the Chanticleers. “This isn’t just a cool story. They’re really good. They went to Auburn in the supers and beat them 2-0, then went 3-0 on that side of the bracket. It is really good on really good. Ace on ace this weekend. It’s going to be really good on Saturday.”

First pitch between LSU and Coastal Carolina will be at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, with Game 2 at 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday and a potential Game 3 at 6:30 p.m. CT on Monday. the expectation is Kade Anderson then Anthony Eyanson to start games 1 and 2, setting up the Tigers perfectly heading into the series against the potent Coastal Carolina lineup.
