LSU adds another key analyst in Todd Fitch

Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers are bringing a familiar face for new offensive coordinator Joe Sloan from Ohio State down to Baton Rouge. On Saturday, it was confirmed that Ohio State offensive analyst Todd Fitch is leaving the Buckeyes for a job with the Tigers.
“Ohio State offensive analyst Todd Fitch is leaving the program for an analyst job at LSU, @LettermenRow can confirm,” Letterman Row’s Spencer Holbrook posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
LSU looks to get back to the top of the SEC in 2024 and will have new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Ohio State brought in Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator and now Fitch is headed back to Louisiana. He joined Ryan Day’s program in January 2021 as an offensive analyst.
Fitch was the offensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech for four seasons. He also coached wide receivers (2016-17) and quarterbacks (2018-19) for the Bulldogs where he helped the program to four consecutive postseason appearances with Sloan.
Fitch has six different stints as an offensive coordinator after holding similar positions at Vanderbilt, Boston College, East Carolina, South Florida and Connecticut.

Fitch comes in to aid Nussmeier’s development
Sloan and the LSU staff had quarterback Garrett Nussmeier ready to play as he started his first game in the bowl win over Wisconsin. He had a terrific day as the Tigers won and adding Fitch only helps Sloan and Nussmeier.
Kelly is counting on Nussmeier to step up and he’s seen positive steps in the right direction since he took over LSU. Nussmeier threw for 395 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception while completing 68.9% of his throws in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
“I think more than anything else is his development,” Kelly said when talking with On3’s J.D. PicKell on The Hard Count. “This is still a young man that is going to get better over time. He’s going to get all the reps that he hasn’t gotten. And we’ve saw glimpses of Garrett Nussmeier with very few reps.
“I think all of us, collectively, really like what we saw. So, what I think what’s exciting for me is — a guy that’s really going to get a lot of the reps and is going to get better and better.”
