LSU Football linebacker and team captain Whit Weeks may miss a second straight SEC game ahead of Saturday’s matchup with No. 3 Texas A&M.

With the first Southeastern Conference injury report set to be released on Wednesday evening, LSU head coach Brian Kelly shared the latest on Weeks during his weekly appearance on the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Weeks has been in an ankle boot that Kelly described as “non-weight bearing”. Kelly added Weeks will remain in the walking boot for “another couple days”.

His status for Saturday’s game against the Aggies remains uncertain.

“(Weeks) has been doing some additional treatments,” Kelly said, “He’s feeling better, but we won’t know on him until later in the week.”

After being listed as “questionable” to play a week ago, Weeks did not suit up in LSU’s road loss to Vanderbilt this past weekend. He had rotated more often than usual in the team’s win over South Carolina two weeks ago, which was a clear indication of Weeks battling through an injury following the team’s bye week.

Weeks, who has played 259 snaps in six games this season, has logged 29 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery as the team’s top starter at linebacker.

Weeks saw his breakout campaign in 2024 cut short in the final game of the year when he suffered a dislocated ankle and a fractured tibia in LSU’s 44-31 win over Baylor in the Texas Bowl.

Weeks underwent surgery for the injury, though it’s worth noting the current ankle injury is to the opposite ankle that he injured a year ago.

If Weeks is unable to play vs. Texas A&M this weekend, expectations are LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker will start West Weeks and Davhon Keys at the linebacker position. Weeks and Keys have both eclipsed 275 snaps played this season.
