After a big win in Week 1, LSU faltered a bit in Week 2, failing to cover the lofty 37.5 point spread, beating Louisiana Tech just 23-7. Now, Florida is set to come to town on Saturday night to open up SEC play for the Tigers in a massive Week 3 contest.

The early betting lines have already been released and LSU finds itself as significant favorites against Florida, opening at -9.5 point favorites. The Gators come off of a home loss to USF and will be playing desperate, but the homefield of Tiger Stadium paired with LSU’s performance against Clemson gives the books ample confidence in the Tigers in this game.

The total has opened at 51.5 for two teams who failed to score 24 points last week. We’ll continue to monitor the betting lines throughout the week.

All lines are from Bet MGM, the official betting partner of On3.

Brian Kelly after LSU’s win over Louisiana Tech

“We are happy with the win, but not happy with the production across the board. We have to coach better. Tonight we didn’t coach well enough and were outcoached in a lot of areas. We didn’t run the football effectively tonight and did not make great decisions. Players have to make plays and coaches have to coach better. We have a lot of work to do and will get back to work on Monday and work on getting better.”

On LSU not living up to the standard set

“That’s not our standard. They want to. They just didn’t do it tonight so we gotta go back and figure out what was in our preparation, what was in our mindset when we took the field for this game, that we couldn’t live up to that standard? That’s what they’re trying to figure out right now. My job is to make it clear that it’s not just them. We got good players. But we gotta put them in a good position as well.

“I’m telling you from my heart, we gotta coach better. We left some plays out there but this was coaches and players together, did not have the kind of performance tonight that we expect.”

Kelly continued discussing the question marks

“If I didn’t think we had the players, I’d be in here giving you the ‘coach Kelly spin.’ We’ve got better players on this roster. We gotta coach them better and we gotta execute. This is all in on everybody. This isn’t just “our coaches stink” or “our players stink.” This is everybody collectively did not live up to the standard here. You can only do that when you believe that you have more. We have more. That didn’t show up tonight and that’s disappointing.”
