LSU remains top five in AP Poll after win over Louisiana Tech

In front of an eager home crowd, LSU improved to 2-0 with its win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night. Coming off of the massive road win over Clemson, LSU got the job done against an in-state opponent and remains a top five team in the country in the latest AP Poll.
LSU checks in at No. 3 in the latest rankings, holding steady from where it was last week after the Week 1 win. Now, with Florida on deck, the Tigers are ready to once again prove they are the class of the SEC and one of the best teams in the country.
Here is the full AP Poll from Sunday, Sept. 7.
1. Ohio State
Ohio State rolled to a victory over Grambling State to the tune of 70-0. Yeah, that was a nice follow up to the win over Texas.
Julian Sayin had 306 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Bo Jackson, no not that one, had nine carries for 108 yards and a score. Jeremiah Smith had 119 yards and two touchdowns on just five catches.
2. Penn State
Penn State rolled to a 34-0 shutout win over FIU on Saturday as Drew Allar had 200 yards and two touchdowns. Kaytron Allen had 144 yards and a touchdown while Nick Singleton had 76 yards and a score.
Penn State’s defense also forced two turnovers and allowed 290 yards, but preserved the goose egg on the scoreboard. Onto the next one.
3. LSU
LSU didn’t roll to a win, but the Tigers got one: 23-7 over Louisiana Tech. Garrett Nussmeier threw for 237 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
What was more impressive was LSU’s defense shutting down LA Tech, keeping them to 154 total yards and a pedestrian fourth-quarter touchdown. LSU is now 2-0, staying high up in the AP Poll.
5. Miami
Miami rolled its way to a 45-3 win over Bethune-Cookman to improve to 2-0 on the season. At this rate, the Hurricanes should rank high in the AP Poll all year.
Carson Beck was 22-of-24 passing for 267 yards and two touchdowns. Mark Fletcher added 11 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

6. Georgia
Georgia beat Austin Peay 28-6 in a lightning-delayed filled game. The Bulldogs managed a touchdown per quarter, so it wasn’t the prettiest game, but it was a win.
8. Notre Dame
Notre Dame had a week off following a loss to Miami during opening weekend. But, giving the Irish two weeks to prepare for Texas A&M might just be what the doctor ordered.
Marcus Freeman and crew still have a very talented team, as evidenced by their ranking in the AP Poll. Onto Week 3!
9. Illinois (+2)
Illinois smoked Duke on the road in a Big Ten-ACC battle. Coming in, some thought Duke could continue a special run under Manny Diaz.
The Fighting Illini were too much as Luke Altmyer threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns. In the 45-19 win, Illinois outscored Duke 31-6 in the second half after a promising start from the Blue Devils and Darian Mensah.
10. Florida State (+4)
Florida State stunned Alabama and then followed it up with a smacking of East Texas A&M. How about to the tune of 77-3? No contest.
Thomas Castellanos had 237 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Even backups Kevin Sperry and Brock Glenn combined for three touchdown passes.
