LSU Tigers tight end Trey'Dez Green (14) attempts to catch a pass Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 during the NCAA football game against the Clemson Tigers at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. LSU Tigers won 17-10.

LSU tight end Trey’Dez Green left the game on the first play of the fourth quarter with a lower leg injury during the Tigers’ win over Louisiana Tech. On a run play to the left side, Green got tangled and then rolled up on by one of the LSU offensive linemen.

Green did not register a catch before getting injured. He was seen on the sideline for the remainder of the game, with crutches and a brace.

The LSU tight end emerged in a big way a week ago in the win over Clemson, catching the go-ahead touchdown pass to help secure the pivotal road victory.

A definite redzone weapon, Green has been targeted nearly every time the Tigers have been near the goal line. Garrett Nussmeier has tabbed Green with the responsibility of being a “go-to” target when LSU nears the goal line.

“I feel like that’s one of my biggest aspects in football is the red zone. I call it the red zone and the green zone. It’s my zone,” Green said to reporters a few weeks ago. “So I have to execute every play correctly when I get down there in that red zone.

Green has also worked to improve his blocking, collaborating with new coach Alex Atkins to refine his skills. The former FSU offensive line coach was brought over by Brian Kelly to help establish a more consistent run game in 2025.

“I’ve gotten a lot better. Coach Atkins is helping me out a lot. He treated me like a tackle during the spring, basically. He didn’t treat me like a tight end. Atkins treated me like a tackle. My blocking has improved, and I’ll continue to get better with that,” Green told the media. “I had to work on my flexibility, me being 6’7″, I got to get lower. If I don’t get lower, I’m going to be blown up in the backfield. So, that has been the biggest one to improve his flexibility.”

Bauer Sharp and Donovan Green rotated in the rest of the game at tight end for the LSU offense.
