LSU freshman Janae Kent has entered the transfer portal, first reported by Talia Goodman of The Next.

A 6-foot-1 wing, Kent averaged 1.6 points in 32 gams this year and was a contributor off the bench as LSU continued to go through injuries and different rotations throughout the season. In the SEC Tournament when Mikaylah Williams was held out, Kent played 19, 24, and 13 minutes. Her season high was seven points which she scored against Texas Southern and Queens University in the non-conference. She played two minutes total in the four NCAA tournament games.

Out of Oak Forest, Illinois, Kent was ranked as the No. 73 player in the country for 2023 by ESPn HoopGurlz. Here’s a recap of her high school career:

The all-time leading scorer (men’s or women’s) at Oak Forest High School with 2,063 career points… A four-time all-conference player in high school a three-time First Team All-State and a recipient of the Daily Southdown Player of the Year Award… Holds the school record with 45 points in a game… Also holds the program record with 669 total points in a season… Went 25-26 at the free throw line during a game to set the school record for made free throws… Set the record for the most free throws in a season with 207 and in a career with 604… Invited to participate in USA Basketball and was a McDonald’s All-America Game nominee… An ESPN Top 100 recruit.

LSU continues to peruse the transfer portal looking for more pieces to add around the strong foundation of Flau’Jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams, and Aneesah Morrow for 2024-25. With Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese gone, there are plenty of spots for players to step in and help the Tigers next year,
