LSU's official injury report vs. Oklahoma: Who starts at QB?
In the final regular season game of the year, LSU senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is officially OUT per the team’s injury report and sophomore Michael Van Buren is set to start in his place, On3’s Pete Nakos reports.
Van Buren ended last game against Western Kentucky with 202 passing yards on 25-of-42 passing with one touchdown and one interception as the Tigers escaped with a 13-10 win. Now, looking ahead, LSU has an uphill battle this week.
The Tigers have several players on the injury report, and are working to field a competitive team, going against a top ten team on the road in Oklahoma. Here’s a rundown of the injury report the team submitted to the SEC.
LSU and Oklahoma meet on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT as the Sooners are playing for a spot in the College Football Playoffs with a win.

What’s on the line
It’s straightforward for Oklahoma — Win and you’re in the College Football Playoffs for the first time under Brent Venables. The Sooners’ two losses were to Texas and Ole Miss back in October and since then they have beaten Tennessee in Knoxville, Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and Missouri at home, and look to finish off a 10-2 season on Saturday.
At this moment, Oklahoma is ranked No. 8 and would host Notre Dame in the first round of the playoffs, which would be a fascinating game, but a loss changes everything. A loss would give Oklahoma three losses and push them below teams like Alabama, BYU, Miami, Vanderbilt, Michigan, and even Texas, likely in the 17-20 range of the rankings. the disappointment from the fan base for losing a home game against an LSU team with an interim head coach would be unbelievable, but there’s a reason why the Sooners are heavy favorites entering the game.
