On the Pod – Was this the same Garrett Nussmeier from fall camp?

Bryce: Prior to the injury, he looked good, like when the offense was able to do things, he was finding receivers. You know, the sporadic elite throws that we’ve seen out of Nussmeyer this year, we saw with with some type of consistency in fall camp. But the offensive line was getting beat in fall camp; we all talked about that in the scorching 93-degree heat. But I’ve maintained this, and I think you feel the same way: Nussmeyer has not been good this year, and the external factors have trickled into being a mental problem for him. He does not trust his offensive line; he’s not going to come out and say that because he’s the quarterback, and you don’t come out and say those things unless you’re Carson Beck in Miami.

You know, you just don’t say those things. He doesn’t trust the himself. I would also say, too, like he’s just gun shy, like he’s he just he everything is mental for him now. So you can’t let that happen, it’s not an excuse. I just don’t think he’s been good. I think this offensive line has made him look worse. And it’s why, you know, some detractors have said he’s not going to get drafted, well no, he’ll get drafted. But it’s one of those things where this has just been a nightmarish situation for him, like a nightmarish situation.

Brune: Yeah, I don’t have too much that there was a clear line of delineation for me in fall camp, where the first two weeks roughly like he was making some throws and I thought he they were on time, on target, like I just there were times where I was like yeah, this looks great, cool even with the offense not like elite but early in camp they were clearly like there was a little bit more back and forth right the second half of fall camp in my opinion is where we saw the defense just completely suffocate them, take the way and that’s where we saw Nussmeier start to limit his throws, that’s where you had the upper body injury potentially, that’s where you had the tendinitis scare. You had things start to happen to him and then he loses a little confidence and then he gets in the games and like I think he realized really quickly this offensive line was not gonna be able to protect him and he can’t move so I and I like you said trickle down mentally, I think he is kind of falling apart and I posted I think I think it’s just it’s sad to see honestly because we’ve seen Nussmeier for four years as a gunslinger, we’ve seen him make all these awesome throws and even with the interceptions it was like okay cool but he has big arm and stuff like that and now he’s just a complete shell of himself
