Brian Kelly reveals the latest on LSU’s two injured starters

In LSU’s 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night, two key offensive starters were injured as tight end Trey’Dez Green and center Braelin Moore left the game.

Moore’s injury happened on the first play of the game as he was rolled up on and went down with an injured ankle, unable to get off the field on his own. He did not return to the game and after the game Kelly said they would have an MRI on Sunday.

On Monday, Kelly said Moore’s situation was better than it appeared.

“We did not get the sense he got a high ankle sprain or that he would need a tight rope procedure and he was going to be out for four weeks,” Kelly said. “He’s going to be day-to-day and see how he feels. He felt better today, so we’re going to list him as questionable, and that could change to probable as we go through the week. We’ll see how that progresses.”

As for Green, it was the first play of the fourth quarter when he injured his knee. LSU’s tight end returned from the injury tent in crutches and a knee brace. Like Moore, there was no word after the game on Green’s status moving forward.

On Monday, Kelly opened up on Green’s injury and the reason for optimism moving into SEC play this weekend vs. Florida.

“Trey’Dez has a sprain, but the good news is it’s a sprained MCL,” Kelly said. “Those are injuries you can come back from rather quickly.

“We’ll see where he is, and we’ll list him as questionable and work our way through the week and see where he is at the end of the week.”
