No. 1 TE Trey'Dez Green staying home, signs with LSU

The No. 1 tight end prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle has signed with LSU as Zachary High’s Trey’Dez Green put pen to paper on Wednesday.
Green is one of 27 expected signees for the Tigers on Wednesday, the first of a three-day window during the Early Signing Period.
Green was electric as a senior en route to a state title appearance. The two-sport star, who also has an LSU basketball offer, is tabbed by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 1 tight end in America, No. 2 prospect in Louisiana and No. 35 overall prospect in the class.
He’s ranked by On3 as the No. 1 prospect in Louisiana.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said Tigers fans should be excited about what Green brings to the purple-and-gold.

“Has a bounce to his step that he maybe didn’t have quite as consistently as a junior. He’s made some ridiculous catches (as a senior),” Power said. “He’s a guy we’ve always been high on his upside as a big-time mismatch at tight end. He’s around 6-6, 230 pounds and has that above the rim basketball athleticism along with his bulk and ability to box out defenders in the air.”
Green’s progression is huge for the Tigers. LSU’s inked some top matchup problems at the position over the past couple seasons.
“I think it’s really encouraging from Trey’Dez,” Power said. “When you look at what LSU is doing at tight end under Brian Kelly, you can look at him in a couple years and they have the most talented tight end room in the country. Trey’Dez Green and Ka’Morreun Pimpton are two major mismatches. I think the prospect of having those two guys in the same room, let alone on the field at the same time, has to be tantalizing for LSU fans.”
