Bryce: There are enough data points to support that, and something has to give. Here’s the thing: how far did you go in those changes? I think that’s the only question I have now: is it just a we wake up tomorrow and we see that there’s a new offensive coordinator, a new offensive line coach is stepping in, Alex Atkins is shifting over, or— and here’s the big one— the big fish in this pond that we call Death Valley— are you going to make the big change, eat the money, and put yourselves into this race now for a new head coach? That’s a lot of maybe. for another podcast another day but I think that after this performance and how we saw these things happen again and again, and after again, it’s the same issues you’ve gotta ask that question tonight and into tomorrow with the highest brass of LSU, you are going to have to have some of those tough conversations about what this program is going to be going forward.

Brune: Yeah, it was not good. And then, the offense continues to have the same issues. The investment you had to make to keep Nussmeier, to keep Perkins, to add these receivers—it’s all for naught. At this point, and as boosters, as LSU, you aren’t Texas, right? They’re not Oregon; they’re not these teams that are just dripping money out of their hands. You go all in like this, and we’re looking at a 7-5, 8-4 at best-case scenario at this point. We’re looking at that. No, you have to look at the big picture. You can’t just say, oh, well, we’ll just re-up it next year.
